Venice 2009: the Star is the Lancia Café

The 66 th International Film Festival of the Venice Biennial opened on 2nd September and, for the fourth year in a row, Lancia is main sponsor.
A fleet of 50 stylish cars that are the best possible showcase for Italian elegance will be accompanying the film stars. Of these, 30 are Delta Executive, the Lancia flagship which was the official car for the 9th World Summit of Nobel Peace Prizes held in Paris from 11th to 13 th December 2008 and for the G8 Summit which recently ended in L’Aquila.
This year again, the Lancia Café, a meeting place set up on the terrace of the Hotel Excelsior at Lido di Venezia and a symbol of the Lancia sponsorship, is confirmed to be the most exclusive location, ready to cater to the needs of the Festival's stars and to offer them drinks in a stylish and relaxing ambiance. With its expanded and renovated air conditioned premises, the Lancia Café will be bustling with activity throughout the Festival, night after night.
One of the most important events, the début on Wednesday 2ndwill involve a meeting with the Italian and international press for the delegation of the film entitled “Baarìa – La porta del vento” by Giuseppe Tornatore. That night, the inauguration Gala will be followed by an exclusive party at the Lancia Café in honour of the film and its stars. On Thursday 3rd, the press conference for the presentation of the special edition of the Corriere della Sera Magazine dedicated to the film industry will be held there. On Friday 4th, the premises will host the press conference held by Olivier François, chief executive of Lancia, at 5:30 p.m. to present the Lancia Powerboat, a 13-metre long luxury boat used to ferry film stars along the laguna. On Sunday 6th, the eagerly-awaited cocktail sponsored by Kinéo Diamanti and presented by the singer and actress Arianna will start at 7 p.m.. On the evening of Wednesday 9th, the trendy party organised by the monthly magazine Ciak should see large attendance figures, and in conclusion, the night of Friday 11thwill be dedicated to the Les Etoiles party.
Lancia, by confirming its presence at the Film Festival, underscores its association with the film industry as a cultural expression in which the brand values can be identified. "After our experience in previous years, Lancia continues to partner the cinema because it has class and excitement, tradition and innovation, elegance and temperament," says Olivier François, chief executive of Lancia Automobiles. "It's the perfect match: the art of filmmaking and the Lancia brand. The cinema is part of our language, not just at events but also in our adverts. This can be seen clearly in our publicity campaigns over the last few years and the huge operation that saw the Lancia Delta become a star of international cinema through its revolutionary placement in the film “Angels & Demons."
