SIDE BY SIDE WITH THE NOBEL LAUREATES, FOR PEACE

From 11th to 13th December, Paris was the venue for the 9th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates.
These heroes of our time met to discuss how to safeguard, affirm and defend fundamental human rights, promote democratic values around the world, and how to enforce human rights by eliminating social and economic inequality between people in today’s society.

This year, Lancia is particularly committed to peace, freedom and human rights, and was the official and main sponsor of the summit, making available to guests a fleet of 20 extremely elegant, black Lancia Delta models.

A notable absentee from this year’s Summit was Aung San Suu Kyi, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991, a Burmese politician who has spent years campaigning for democracy and the affirmation of human rights in Burma. Her absence typifies the struggles in which the participants at the Summit are involved, since Aung has been held for political reasons in her own country for 18 years.

We now also have SendYourPeaceMessage.org, a site that invites users to join the cause by sending their very own peace message. The campaign is global in scale, with the home page featuring a large world map, with lots of little boxes.

Each user who visits the site will be able to send a peace message to whomever they want, adding their image and their message to one of the boxes, and along with Lancia, they will help to support the campaign to free Aung San Suu Kyi. The peace message will be displayed on the world map, among thousands of other messages.

SendYourPeaceMessage is a viral site whose aim is to raise people’s awareness, inviting them to help build better world, and to support a worthy cause, namely the fundamental right of every human being: freedom.
