16 – 20 September: the sails were unfurled on the most stylish sailing boats to grace the waters of the Principality of Monaco. The regular Monaco Classic Week was held in partnership with Lancia for the first time.
The first anniversary of the union was celebrated against the magical backdrop of the Monaco coastline, which brought together the Turin car manufacturer and the Monaco Yacht Club, confirming their shared values of elegance, style and tradition.
Lancia was represented by La Signora del Vento, the majestic sailing boat that cut through the waves of the Tyrrhenian sea this summer to call in at the coolest coastal resorts, with events organised on the beach and aboard the sailing boat. The theme? “Living ECO-CHIC”: elegance with full respect for the environment.
With over 3000 square metres of canvas under full sail, a bridge capable of accommodating up to 200 persons, a 200 square metre restaurant, a large solarium and 27 luxurious cabins, the ‘Signora del Vento’ represents Lancia values encapsulated in the claim "the environment is a luxury we want to allow ourselves".
In opening the event, Olivier Francois, Lancia Automobiles CEO and Brand Marketing Communication Manager said: “[…] this is a great occasion for Lancia: it allows us to recall the brand's traditional link with sea-faring values, that we enthusiastically uphold. […] Monaco Classic Week combines exclusivity, taste and sophistication without ever forgetting the sort of style only tradition can guarantee, a style shared by Lancia that we have brought to our products over the years to meet the needs of an audience who care more and more about quality but also love luxury. […] The sailing boat's presence in the Monaco harbour allows us to offer our guests a luxury stay aboard, so that they can enjoy the unmissable experience of watching the traditional yacht races within a unique setting. When the regattas are over, Lancia will award the “Eleganza e Temperamento” prize to the crew that has showed the best temperament at sea and the elegance that should distinguish a true sailor”.
Plenty of space has been devoted to great names associated with the most prestigious boats, and exclusive campaigns linked to traditional sailing and powerboat sailing including exhibitions and tours of the sailing boats, period regattas, competitions, prizes and jet-set evenings.
This year, the biannual event was also graced by two prestigious anniversaries: the twenty-fifth anniversary of Prince Albert II in the chair of the Monaco Yacht Club and the first centenary of the Tuiga, the legendary flagship racer and pride of Monaco marina.
