13 – 17 May 2009: “the world's greatest road race” crossed Italy and united enthusiasts from around the world.
The Bugatti Type 37 from 1927 won the highest step of the podium of the 17th Mille Miglia. Two Lancia Aurelia models stood out among the vintage cars that participated in the automotive commemorative event, the B20 and Raffaele Terlizzi and the B22, part of the Fiat Group Official Team. The B20 driven by Raffaele Terlizzi and co-driver Mario Rigotti crossed the finish line in 77th place out of 377 participants.
Gentlemanly gestures abounded from the drivers. For example our drivers, risking scoring penalties by stopping during the race to help a competitor's car in need of repair.
The route Brescia - Rome - Brescia was 1,600 kilometres and once again brought together admirers of the race. Collectors of vintage cars took to the road to race among stylish accelerations and parades of past history.
Lancia could not miss out and dedicated a virtual window for its public to experience a stretch of the race in first person.
The preferred way to follow the event is the now hallowed Lancia Channel (www.lanciachannel.tv), which offers contributions filmed with Lancia TV cameras through the night section, Brescia – Ferrara, and during the day, Ferrara – Rome.
Editing with a hint of the past, which runs to the future chasing a model that made time. Photographic images that reproduce four-wheeled stars that, even if sleek, retain and communicate all their history, from the most experienced of the1920s to the models from the Dolce Vita at the end of the 1950s.
Dreams never end… with Lancia.
