100 years of Lancia, a century of Design: Turin, from January 12

 At the end of a European tour that has included cities such as Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, Brussels and Athens, the Lancia Tour Italian Design finally reached Turin, and the Mirafiori Motor Village, on January 12.
A travelling exhibition – the brainchild of Davide Rampello, President of the ‘Triennale di Milano’, and curated by Luca Molinari, Direcor of the NABA Design School in Milan - created to mark the motor manufacturer’s centenary, setting some of Lancia’s most important models alongside objects that have written the history of Made in Italy design.
Starting from the Lambda Torpedo Ballon (1925), the exhibition moves on to the Aurelia GT B24 Spider (1955), set alongside Enzo Mari’s Perpetual Calendar from 1959, by way of the Flaminia Coupé (1965) and the Fulvia Coupé (1967) accompanied by Gae Aulenti’s ‘Sgarsul’ rocking chair from 1961, up to the more recent Delta HF Integrale (1989) and the Aldo Rossi’s ‘Cupola’ stock pot from1988, and finishing with the MOMO Design Lancia Ypsilon.

 During the Student Olympics Games in Turin, the exhibition featured presentations, aperitifs and musical evenings. In particular, 26 January saw the launch of a book by Sandro Munari and Sergio Remondino , entitled ‘Sandro Munari - Una vita di traverso’, telling the story of the sporting career of Sandro Munari, a world rally legend, from his debut with the Flavia Coupé to his victories with the Lancia cars of the HF team, first in a Fulvia and then with the Stratos.
The book tells the story of the Dragon, as he was known in the rally world, using the first person to describe his life from his childhood and karting competitions, to his triumphs at Montecarlo, and in the Safari. It vividly evokes an extremely important period for world rally racing, for Lancia and for all fans.
“I never thought I would write a book. It was a highly stimulating and interesting experience – says Sandro Munari – and what better place could we have for the launch of the book than right here surrounded by Lancias!?”
After the experience of the Student Olympics and Munari’s book, early February sees the start of the first edition of the ’Masters Degree in Transportation design’, organised by the IAAD (Institute of Applied Art and Design).
